The Joseph Saveri Law Firm filed a class action lawsuit in January 2016 on behalf of dental equipment purchasers against Patterson Companies, Inc., Henry Schein, Inc., and Benco Dental Supply Company in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
The suit charges three of the nation’s primary distributors of dental products with illegally boycotting competitors in order to maintain and extend their dominant position in the market for dental supplies and equipment.
Dental practitioners allege that the boycott has forced them to pay inflated prices for essential products, including imaging devices, dental chairs, high-tech equipment, sterilization products, x-ray film, acrylics, alloys, waxes, impression materials, and more.
“This unlawful boycott has raised prices for necessary equipment, making it increasingly difficult for dentists to meet their clients’ needs,” says Joseph Saveri, counsel for the plaintiffs. “Meanwhile, Patterson Companies, Inc., Henry Schein, Inc., and Benco Dental Supply Company continue to monopolize the market and exploit their customers.”
The suit, In re Dental Supplies Antitrust Litig., seeks monetary damages for direct purchasers impacted by the boycott.
